Cooltone v. Emsculpt blog

Getting the body you want isn’t always as easy as going to the gym. When you have stubborn fatty deposits that just won’t go away with healthy eating and exercising alone, you may start to be considering cosmetic procedures to help you get the silhouette you desire. There are two major procedures you should be aware of: Emsculpt® and CoolTone™. Let’s go over the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Emsculpt®

Emsculpt® is the original non-invasive muscle toning treatment that uses HIEFM energy to induce involuntary muscle contractions that tone and strengthen your abdominals and buttocks.

The Pros

Emsculpt® treatments are done in-office and only take about 30 minutes to complete. Emsculpt treatments are best for toning your abs and your butt. During your treatment, the device is placed over the desired treatment area and involuntary muscle contractions are induced. These contractions mimic performing 20,000 crunches or squats in a 30 minute period. This builds muscle mass and improves strength, tone, and definition of the muscles. Emsculpt® can also be used to melt stubborn fat around the waistline and thighs. The HIEFM energy disrupts fat cells and eliminates the fat over the course of a few weeks. There is no downtime required after this procedure and it’s completely painless.

The Cons

While there are many benefits to Emsculpt®, it is recommended you get four 30-minute treatments done in the first two weeks of your treatment period in order to start seeing results. This means you’ll have to sacrifice your time four times in two weeks to be in the doctor’s office.

CoolTone™

CoolTone™ is the newest device to help you tone your body without the excessive use of a gym. It uses Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS) technology to produce involuntary muscle contractions just like Emsculpt®.

The Pros

CoolTone™ treatments are done in-office and also take about 30 minutes to complete. CoolTone™ treatments work to tone your abdomen, butt, and your upper legs. During your treatment, the CoolTone™ device is placed over your treatment area and MMS technology induces 25,000 involuntary muscle contractions. This is 5,000 more contractions than Emsculpt®. The contractions build muscle fibers to tone and strengthen the treated muscles. Like Emscuplt®, you’ll start seeing your results a few weeks after your initial treatment. Unlike Emsculpt®, MMS technology uses 50 percent more energy to give you better and faster results.

The Cons

This treatment is strictly for developing muscle tone and does not melt fat. In order to melt fat with this procedure, you have to combine it with another treatment called CoolSculpting®. CoolSculpting® will use cryotherapy to freeze the fat in your body, which is then eliminated naturally.

The Verdict

Choosing between Emsculpt® and Coolton™ is a tossup. Both create involuntary muscle contractions in the body to build muscle tone and strength. Emsculpt® can be used to melt fat but requires multiple sessions to be done in your first two weeks of treatment, while CoolTone™ does not require such treatments but needs to have the addition of CoolSculpting® to melt any stubborn fatty deposits you may have. The choice is ultimately up to your preferences, your lifestyle and what Dr. Ballenas recommends for your desired results.
