What is Varicose Vein Treatment?
Varicose veins are enlarged, tangled veins that become visible from the skin’s surface. Although they are generally harmless, many people find them to be a cosmetic concern and choose to pursue treatment to eliminate their appearance. In some cases, varicose veins can cause discomfort that further motivates patients to seek treatment. At Suite Six Medical Aesthetics, we offer multiple non-surgical laser treatments for addressing varicose veins. Depending on the size of the vein, we may recommend either endovenous laser treatment or a traditional laser treatment.
How Much Does Varicose Vein Treatment Cost in Boston & Newburyport, MA?
The cost of your varicose vein treatment at Suite Six Medical Aesthetics can vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary to deliver your desired results. During your initial consultation, we will assess your treatment goals in order to develop an individualized treatment plan. Once we determine the treatment approach that is best for you, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of your treatment. We accept traditional payment methods and offer financing through CareCredit® for your convenience.
How is Varicose Vein Treatment Performed?
During varicose vein treatment, laser energy is used to damage and close off a vein, cutting off its blood supply. Without blood flow, the vein will shrink and eventually fade from view. For small varicose veins, laser treatment can be performed from the skin’s surface. From here, we will be able to deliver laser energy to the desired vein without damaging the skin or tissue surrounding it. Larger varicose veins may require endovenous laser treatment, for which we will use a local anesthetic. During endovenous laser treatment, we will insert a small laser device directly into the vein. Then, the laser will emit laser energy to damage and close the vein.
Is There Downtime After Varicose Vein Treatment?
After most varicose vein treatments, patients are able to return to normal activities immediately after their appointment. If endovenous laser treatment was performed, however, patients may experience minor swelling or bruising in the treatment area for a few days. Patients may choose to take a day or two off of normal activities in order to facilitate proper healing.
What Results Can I Expect from Varicose Vein Treatment?
After varicose vein treatment, the appearance of the treated varicose veins will slowly fade as they lose blood flow. Smaller veins will fade faster than larger veins, some fading within just a few days after treatment. The treated varicose veins are permanently closed, so the treated vein will not return. However, varicose vein treatment cannot prevent new varicose veins from developing in the future.
