When it comes to the beauty and skincare industry things are ever-changing; technology is always advancing and there is always a new and trending treatment that everyone is buzzing about. Designed to increase collagen production, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, shrink pore size and treat acne scarring, Laser Genesis is a non-invasive skincare treatment that we, and our skin, can’t get enough of!
A brief overview
Laser Genesis is a cutting edge YAG laser treatment that works to treat the concerns mentioned above plus acne vulgaris, rosacea, hypertrophic scarring, skin discoloration, and large, clogged pores. This treatment is non-invasive, requires no down-time and is safe for all skin types.
How to prepare for your treatment
Before coming to us for your first treatment, we recommend to all of our clients to start using an antioxidant serum such as the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic once daily for one week. This serum delivers advanced environmental protection while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We also recommend preparing your skin with a gentle cleanser in order to remove debris at night, treating your skin with a retinol in order to accelerate the shedding process for optimal laser absorption, and always finish off by applying an SPF to prevent further skin damage and premature aging from the sun. For optimal results it is recommended to have 4-6 treatments waiting 2-3 weeks in between treatments.
What to expect during treatment
On the day of your treatment we recommend to remove all makeup before arriving. Makeup or debris on your skin will interact with the laser creating more discomfort during the treatment. Your licensed aesthetician will then bring you into the treatment room and cleanse your face with a gel based cleanser followed by saturating gauze with alcohol to remove any residual residue. The treatment is painless and non-invasive. You will feel a warming sensation similar to sitting out in the sun. The laser works by heat accumulation in each region in your face. The warming sensation in the skin stimulates collagen production in the dermis layer, as well as shrinks red capillaries in your skin that are responsible for redness in your cheeks. The results are subtle at first and increase in time as increasing collagen levels promote the growth of new beautiful and smooth skin. The appointment for a Laser Genesis skin rejuvenating treatment is a quick 30 minute appointment also called the “lunchtime” facial. Once finished your aesthetician will escort you to the check out to schedule your next appointment.
How many treatments will I need to have before noticing results?
It is recommended to have a series of 4-6 treatments each 2 weeks apart for maximal benefits. Laser genesis targets the dermis layer of skin so you will notice immediate results after your first treatment which will improve with each subsequent treatment.
Can I have a tan and still get this treatment done?
Laser genesis is a non-invasive, YAG laser, meaning it has modalities that can treat all skin types on the Fitzpatrick scale for skin types. You are allowed to have a tan but cannot have a burn which would result in overheating of the skin, increasing the risk of burns.
Does it treat scarring?
Laser genesis is very effective in treating scarring and current acne breakouts. It is an antibacterial treatment as well as collagen stimulating. It is recommended in conjunction with a microdermabrasion treatment to remove the dead skin cells resulting in a deeper penetration of the laser and more effective treatment.
