Since 2002, Botox® has thrilled men and women as a quick and effective treatment for forehead wrinkles – some of the earliest signs of aging. The popularity of this traditional use of Botox® has left many other treatments in the shadows. The FDA has approved many other uses of Botox® – it’s not just for wrinkles!

Underarm Sweat

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that afflicts men and women alike. The excessive underarm sweating is an embarrassing problem that is difficult to control. Even the highest quality deodorants and antiperspirants have little to no impact. People with hyperhidrosis soak through clothing, often breaking out in sweats in even the most relaxed environments.

The culprit behind the saturated armpits are overactive sweat glands. Botox® injections block the chemical that stimulates the glands. Most people see an 82% to 87% reduction un underarm perspiration.

Botox® injections are made just under the skin in the underarm area. You’ll need a series of injections for each treatment. Botox® provides you with 4 to 14 months of underarm sweat control.

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder

Temporomandubular joint (TMJ) disorder is caused by abnormalities in the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull. TMJ causes a range of symptoms, including popping, tension, locked jaw, headaches, difficulty chewing, and jaw pain. The conventional treatment for TMJ involves wearing a nightguard to prevent teeth grinding, but this works in only a few cases.

Botox® contains botulinum toxin that relaxes the jaw muscles to have a more limited range of motion. This reduces the pain and other symptoms.

Injections are made in the forehead, temple, and jaw. The results last for up to 3 months.

Chin Dimpling

Like forehead wrinkles, chin dimples are caused by the muscles in the chin and jaw area. This gives your chin an aged appearance. The tiny wrinkles don’t respond to skin care or other cosmetic treatments.

Botox® injections relax the mentalis muscles of the chin that cause chin dimples. Once the muscles are relaxed, the skin also relaxes to soften chin dimples.

A series of injections are made in the chin area. You may need a series of injections over the first 4 to 6 weeks. We recommend follow-up treatments every 6 to 8 months.

Neck and Shoulder Tension

So much of life is conducted while hunched over a computer for smart device. Over time, tension sets into the muscles of the neck and shoulders. Left untreated, it becomes a chronic condition that does not respond well to massage and other therapies. The tension is so great in the muscles that they simply cannot relax.

Botulinum toxin, the active ingredient in Botox®, is clinically proven to block muscle contractions in the face. The same ingredient helps with chronic muscle tension in the neck and shoulders. The injections also help with muscle spasms. Arthritis, nerve pain, tension headaches, migraines, chronic back pain, and more.

A series of Botox® injections is made in the affected muscles. We customized the pattern of injections based on your symptoms, as well as what we find during the physical examination. You may need treatment over a few weeks before the muscles completely relax. After the treatment, you will need to make lifestyle changes to prevent neck and shoulder tension. We may also recommend follow-up injections.

The benefits of Botox® are no longer limited to facial wrinkles. The FDA has approved the injections for excessive sweating, chin dimples, neck and shoulder tension, TMJ, bladder problems, certain eye problems, and so much more.
